District 9 Review

As I stated in a previous post, I have been excited about D9 since I first saw the trailer during Star Trek. That said, let me tell you that it is one of the best movies I have seen in a LONG time. The Prawns are animated so well and so believably. I haven't seen a movie as original, moving, and entertaining as this in years. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go see this movie and get Blommkamp and Jackson lots of money so they will make the Halo movie.

Overall rating: 9/10 stars ********.

Bear Mountain 09

Bear Mountain is the biggest annual MR2 meet on the east coast. Every year around 75 MR2's and Celica All-Trac's meet at the Sheraton Crossroads hotel in Mahwah, NJ and drive to West Point and back, stopping for lunch and a show & shine time. This will be my first year attending (this year the meet is on Oct 10) and I am very excited. I'm going to drive up to stay with some relatives the night before in Delaware, and do the same on the way back.

My Goal for the Next Year

I have decided to set a goal of saving approximately $5,000 by this time next year that I will then combine with a loan from my parents (probably around $2,000) to buy another car as a newer, more reliable daily driver. This will allow me to use the MR2 as a fun weekend/track car and not have to worry about having a ride to work/school. What I really want is a 2000+ Subaru Impreza 2.5RS. Hopefully I can be disciplined enough to faithfully put this money away.

Either of these two body styles is good with me, but I love the look of the older one below:

Forza Motorsport 3

Forza and Forza 2 have been some of the most realistic racing simulators ever, and Forza 3 (coming October 2009) looks like its just more and better. 400+ cars, better graphics, 50 manufacturers, a clutch button option (left bumper), touge tracks....yes please!

District 9 Anticipation

District 9 is an upcoming movie by Neill Blomkamp and Peter Jackson. That's right, the same duo that was slated to make the (now cancelled) Halo movie. District 9 is based on Blomkamp's short-film "Alive in Joburg". Basically District 9 is about a race of extra-terrestrials (aliens) that lands on our planed due to emergency. Multi-National United, a huge corporation, is put in charge of "dealing with" the aliens (referred to as "non-humans"). MNU puts the non-humans in a huge slum called District 9. Only interested in non-human technology and weaponry, MNU couldn't care less for the non-human's well being and won't let them leave. One man finds a piece of alien technology while evicting some non-humans in District 9 that alters his DNA, making him a human/alien hybrid, allowing him to use non-human technology, and making him the most wanted man on Earth by both humans and non-humans alike.

RESURRECTION!

It's officially been suspiciously close to a year since my last update. I've decided to bring this blog back (not that anyone cares given that NO ONE reads this thing anyway).

More real update to follow.
